Jagua Tattoo Aftercare Requirements

**Jagua Tattoo Aftercare Instructions**

To avoid staining your fingertips and under your nails, do not simply peel off the jagua gel with your fingers. Instead, wash it away with soap and warm running water.

1. **Drying Time**: The jagua gel will take 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully dry.

2. **Application Duration**: Leave the jagua on your skin for 4 to 8 hours. During this time, relax and avoid any activities that cause sweating, such as exercise or dancing, as sweating can blur the lines of the tattoo.

3. **Removal**: After 4 to 8 hours, wash and rinse the jagua gel away with warm running water and soap. Ensure that all of the dark blue gel is removed. We recommend showering, but do not use a loofah or any exfoliating products.

4. **Initial Appearance**: The jagua tattoo will initially appear as a faint blue color. Don't worry if it seems like it isn't working; it will develop into a darker blue or almost black color over the next 24 to 48 hours.

5. **Sleeping Precautions**: Do NOT sleep with the jagua gel on your skin. The stain can transfer to other parts of your body or to other people during the first 12 to 24 hours after application.

6. **Extra Protection**: After washing off the jagua gel and before bedtime, consider covering the area with tissue paper or gauze, secured with tape, or wearing clothing over it while you sleep to prevent any transfers.

7. **Factors Affecting Stain Result**: The intensity of the jagua tattoo depends on the area of application and your skin type. Similar to henna, jagua stains darkest on hands and feet and lighter on other areas.

8. **Water Exposure**: Avoid soaking your fresh jagua tattoo in a bath, hot tub, or ocean. For the first day, even short exposure to water can pull the stain out of your pores. Normal showering is fine, but avoid excessive water exposure.

**Preparation for Your Jagua Appointment**

- **Exfoliation**: Consider showering and exfoliating your skin before your appointment. This will help the jagua stain deeper and last longer.

- **Skin Products**: Do NOT apply oils or moisturizers to the area before your appointment, as they can block the jagua from staining as deeply as possible.

- **Appointment Timing**: Schedule your appointment to ensure you can follow the aftercare requirements exactly.

**How to Make Your Jagua Tattoo Last**

The jagua stain is released from your skin through sweating and exposure to water. It also fades with skin exfoliation. To prolong the life of your tattoo, minimize water exposure, particularly from the ocean, hot tubs, and mineral hot springs. You can apply natural oils such as olive oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil before showering or engaging in activities that cause sweating. These oils act as a protective barrier against water. Keeping the area moisturized with natural oils can also help the tattoo last longer.

**Allergic Reactions to Jagua**

Jagua is derived from all-natural plant materials, and, like any natural product, it can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. If you have allergies to other berries, such as blueberries or strawberries, you should avoid jagua. If you have concerns or sensitive skin, we recommend performing a small skin test before applying a full tattoo. Apply a small dab of the product on your skin. If you do not experience itching or redness, it is likely that you are not allergic. Our shop sources fresh jagua every year at the beginning of June for use throughout the summer. However, we cannot take responsibility for any allergic reactions since skin reactions can vary from person to person.
